Old Brand New

There is a new trend riding into town and how I love it.

There was a time when goods were transported by horse and cart, people wore loin cloths and everything we ate either came out the ground or walked and swam around it. We are seeing packaging revisit this time of old, well not quite but global brands are keen to appear like locally produced fair, a revitalised vigor for packaging displaying it's roots.

Anyone who reads my blog will know that I like design to use the substrate with which it is to be displayed, the below work either does this or alternatively simulates the natural rustic look enticing the consumer to believe the substrate is actually something different.

You know it's a trend when you have the diversity of soda, condiments, dog foods, alcohol, soap, coffee and chocolate all doing the same thing.

Special mention must go to Heinz. I see so many global brands failing to utilise their SRP. The cases represent almost 50% of the selling face yet are often a 1 colour afterthought.  Heinz and 1HQ have perfectly executed the sun ripened tomato repositioning.
